Issues
Homelessness
The homelessness we see in our District is seen across the County and has increased 37% in the last year. It is time we move the Governor’s plan of CARE Court (Community Assistance, Recovery and Empowerment) into action. This program offers an opportunity for some of the homeless to get off the street and into programs to improve their lives. This is not ‘a one program fixes all’, so, we will create a County Task Force among all the County Programs to ensure the needs of these residents are met. These programs will come together formulating a consistent and continuous plan to a path to success. We can reduce homelessness together, ensuring our community safety.
Public Safety
Public Safety is a concern of every resident. We must work towards a completion plan where we bring more law enforcement to all areas, especially for our neighbors in the unincorporated areas and smaller cities without a local police department. Another avenue of public safety concern includes all the County employees who are in the field to facilitate the needs and safety of our neighbors without proper support. It will be our mission to provide more County resources in all areas to build a stronger work community. We will seek out and demand State and Federal funding to improve the infrastructure within our county departments. The time is now to provide more assistance to all working people while strengthening our families and embracing our neighbors.
Waste
County waste can be seen in different ways: financial and refuse. Financial waste comes from the County attempting to cut vacant positions when current County workers are working overtime at a rate that is unhealthy for everyone. Refuse on the streets and roadways continues to grow at an unbearable rate and there are not enough workers to keep our District clean. We must work together to change these and other wasteful patterns within our County as a collective.
I am committed to building a stronger community. Will you work with me?
